Hays are pleased to partner with government-owned electricity company in Far North Queensland. We are seeking a Project Coordinator (civil) to join their team in this rewarding opportunity, working on a 6-month temporary contract based in Cairns, with the possibility of going permanent.
Your new role
A Project Coordinator plays a vital role in assisting Project Managers with their day-to-day duties. This includes tracking, analysing, and reporting the status of the project. They ensure that project communications run smoothly, keeping key stakeholders and decision makers engaged throughout the process. From initiation to closure, the Project Coordinator is deeply involved in project management under the guidance of the Project Manager. They create, schedule, and monitor tasks to ensure site teams are aware of project plans. They work closely with the site team and the project to ensure that the project is on track, removing any impediments and communicating any site support required. The Project Coordinator communicates with all project stakeholders about project progress and risks, and actively collects feedback. They manage deliverables, resource calendars, and expense reports to keep the project on track and within budget. Documentation is another key duty of a Project Coordinator. They are responsible for requesting contractor documentation, as well as creating and updating internal project documentation. This comprehensive approach ensures the smooth running of the project from start to finish.
What you'll need to succeed
Highly developed interpersonal skills and relationship management skills - able to establish, build and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
Experience in working in a multi-project or programme management environment.
Able to work in a team environment, demonstrate initiative, adapt, and cope with continuing change.
Trades or Diploma in Civil, Construction or Mechanical (or similar), required.
Training or familiarity with project management frameworks and methodologies is required.
An intermediate level Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project, and SAP.
Able to prioritise, schedule work to meet deadlines and maintain project health, safety, environment, and quality requirements.
Communicate with all project stakeholders on project progress and risks, collect feedback.
