Job description

Provide daily privacy support for Defence Force Recruiting (DFR) operations, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.

The Privacy Officer, DFR is a member of the DFR business unit within Adecco and the Adecco Group ANZ Legal and Compliance function.

They are responsible for assisting the provision of day to day privacy support for the DFR operations, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations and internal policies.

Job Description

As the Privacy Officer, you will oversee the DFR Contract from a privacy perspective, ensuring Adecco's privacy obligations are met for its client, potential and existing candidates, and subcontractors. You will collaborate with other departments to maximize compliance and provide practical solutions within the boundaries of applicable laws. Acting as the Privacy Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will perform Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA) for all new systems, incorporate and advise on privacy by design principles, and assist with relevant documentation and inquiries. Additionally, you will manage your workload independently and efficiently, with the support of the Head of Legal and Compliance.

You will:

  • Provide business partnering support to the DFR team including PIAs and associated support.
  • Review and guide the DFR team with privacy principles and obligations including assisting with data breaches, direct marketing activities and day to day operations including classification of data.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure appropriate escalation of issues and matters requiring approval.
  • Assist with the development of templates, policies, guidance and training.
  • Work closely with the Defence Privacy Office .

Your background will demonstrate:

  • Demonstrated experience with privacy laws and regulations and SME in privacy (with a minimum of 4 years experience with PIAs)
  • Experience with supply chains and extensive subcontractors including implementation of new IT systems with consideration to privacy, risk and security
  • Experience with Department of Defence or Federal Government desirable
  • Must be internal/external customer centric
  • Ability to present complex legal and other information clearly, accurately and in a way that can be understood by the relevant audience
  • Flexible, adaptable, able to challenge the status quo, sound commercial sense and the ability to make pragmatic decisions
  • Proactive and independent attitude and result oriented approach
  • Must be able to obtain a baseline security clearance
