YOUR ROLE
The Privacy Officer & Legal Adviser role at MACS involves providing support in corporate legal matters, particularly in privacy and data governance. The candidate should have a legal background with expertise in privacy, data governance, and commercial law. They should possess an innovative mindset and be able to deliver legal services efficiently. Proactive problem-solving and effective communication skills are essential for success in this position.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Develop and implement a privacy management framework and data governance framework.
Serve as the first point of contact for privacy advice and conduct privacy impact assessments.
Provide accurate and timely legal advice on various issues, including drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
Ensure legal policies and practices are in place to manage legal obligations and risks, particularly in privacy and data governance.
Coordinate external legal advisors, manage documentation, and develop standards and policies for legal and compliance matters.
ABOUT YOU
Demonstrates expertise in applying relevant privacy laws and legislation, including the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and Public Records Act 1973 (Vic).
Familiar with privacy dispute resolution and complaint-handling processes.
Understands MACS strategic priorities and projects involving personal information, with knowledge of data governance frameworks.
Possesses strong communication and relationship-building skills with internal stakeholders, regulators, and senior executives.
Brings a problem-solving and business-enabling approach, emphasizing commercial outcomes, innovative legal services, and proactive risk management.
