About the role:
The Process Safety Technologist will play a key role in collaborating and engaging across the refinery, developing and stewarding site Process Safety improvements. You will influence and support our site operations, maintenance and engineering and you will aim to improve overall results for Viva Energy Australia in terms of Process Safety, reliability and costs. You will work with the business and be a subject matter expert in Process Safety and safety cases documentation, ensuring safe and reliable operations.
In this role your technical knowledge will be demonstrated in conducting Hazard analysis, Bowtie analysis, Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) assessment as well as participating and contributing in HAZOP workshops. Developing / maintaining in-house capability of various tools for impact assessment (PHAST, SAFETI), support management of the MHF licence renewal process. You should also possess a strong knowledge and understanding of applicable design and safety standards, along with demonstrated familiarity with relevant Australian and International standards.

About you:
To be successful in this role you will have an understanding and experience operating in complex major hazard facility. Leading and delivering desktop based Process Safety scopes of work. You will be self-driven, safety focused leader, able to look at the big picture and be naturally curious and focused on business improvement and experience in coaching, mentoring and delivering business and process improvement initiatives.
