The Role
This position is primarily responsible for ensuring that Army Marine’s Procurement and Contracting support functions within established performance frameworks. The successful candidate will be part of an adaptable team providing logistic support to Army’s marine equipment. HSPO-Army Marine strives to effectively deliver materiel sustainment in support of Army’s fleet of watercraft and related equipment.
Within the Contracting function an APS5 Contracting Officer is accountable under limited direction to perform and achieve Procurement and complex contracting work within an integrated workforce. They are accountable to have and maintain a well-developed understanding of and compliance to relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements.
APS 5 Procurement and Contracting Officers are accountable for organising their workflow and making independent decisions relating to their area of responsibility. They will interpret and provide advice within the procurement or contracting function based on legislation, policy and procedures. They will undertake specialist research and analysis, conduct reviews and perform procedural and clerical support work to achieve results.
An APS 5 Procurement and Contracting Officer will coordinate and contribute to the work of a team consistent to a work plan and provide advice and assistance on methods of task completion to team members. They may be a team coach or supervise a team and be accountable to set work priorities, allocate work, and manage workflows and performance. They are expected to be capable of reviewing and developing the quality of work undertaken by others and identifying opportunities for on-the-job training within a work unit.
An APS 5 Procurement and Contracting Officer will be required to engage and communicate with stakeholders to identify, respond and provide advice on issues to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes. They will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development.
About our Team
Army Marine, an element of the Hydrographic Systems Program Office operates within the Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group, as a part of the Maritime Sustainment Division, within the Specialist Systems Branch. HSPO supports Defence’s Hydrographic and Army Marine capabilities.
As part of NSSG, HSPO is evolving into the Maritime Sustainment Model (MSM) being progressed under Plan Galileo. It is a national, integrated approach that is delivering a continuous sustainment environment to support Continuous Naval Shipbuilding.
