ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Governance team sits within the Governance and Risk Directorate and are focused on delivering effective education across the organisation with regard to Procurement and governance processes and partnering with various units to achieve the best outcomes for the organisation.

The team are responsible for the delivery of Access to Information (GIPA) services, planning and executing civic events, policy and delegation management, providing administrative support to Council and various committees, providing governance advice, ensuring that Council procurement activities are in accordance with legislation and guidelines, delivering robust tender processes and ensuring all contracts are managed effectively.

In contributing to the overarching vision, The Procurement and Contracts Officer provides procurement expertise, and assists stakeholders to plan, develop, source and manage procurement arrangements to effectively meet organisational and business objectives.

The successful applicant will require:

  • Tertiary qualifications relevant to procurement, and/or demonstrated extensive experience in similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience in the professional preparation, administration and management of tender and contract documents.
  • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder management, with a focus on facilitating purchasing or project delivery outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience in the effective application of contract and procurement policies, practices and procedures, including the application of strong probity principles to procurement activities.
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying and responding to strategic improvement opportunities, in particular in relation to purchasing and procurement activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify areas of non-compliance to procurement policy and raise with relevant stakeholders/business partners.
  • Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining effective working relationships and providing support to stakeholders within a large, diverse organisation.

Position information: This is a permanent, full-time position, working a 70 hour fortnight, with access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO) arrangement.

This role is predominantly located at Council's Merrylands office, with occasional travel required across Council worksites, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations.

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

  • Grade 10 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,530.25 to $1,759.79 per week, plus 11% superannuation
  • The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role
