About the role
As the Procurement Coordinator, you will be responsible for overseeing a dynamic operational program of work that ensures the smooth functioning of our Council. Working with the Executive Officer Strategic Procurement, you will have the opportunity to make a difference by managing procurement resources, supervising a team of Procurement Officers, and facilitating procurement processes in alignment with local government legislation and Council policies.
What you'll do:
- Review and conduct tendering and quotation processes that deliver best value outcomes for the goods, services and works required by Council.
- Lead and supervise a team of 6 Procurement and Business Support Officers, providing guidance and support to ensure the achievement of procurement objectives and outcomes.
- Utilise your industry knowledge and foster internal relationships to gain a deep understanding of our Council's business needs and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with stakeholders from various departments to support procurement strategies that optimise cost savings, mitigate risks, and promote sustainable practices.
- Act as a subject matter expert, providing guidance to staff and stakeholders on procurement practices such as contract management, policies, and compliance.

What you'll bring to our team
- Proven experience in indirect procurement and contract management, within a local government or public sector environment desirable but not essential.
- Experience in managing a team, or willingness and drive to step up into a leadership role.
- A strategic approach to procurement, with a focus on delivering cost-effective solutions while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools, with a willingness to adapt to new technologies and systems.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CIPS) are desirable but not essential.
