Karara Mining Limited (KML) is a joint venture between Gindalbie Metals Limited and AnSteel, one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.
With an expected mine life of 30+ years, it will underpin a long-term iron ore business and provide sustainable benefits to the regional community we operate. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks.
We are seeking an experiencedProcurement Officerto join our Business Planning & Commercial team based in the Perth office. This position is responsible for procuring goods and services in accordance with quantity, quality and cost requirements in set timeframes. In addition planning and managing expenditure in the procurement function.
Key Accountabilities;
- Ensure all Karara purchasing policies and procedures are adhered to at all times
- Deliver procurement strategies which minimise cost and drive efficiency
- Plan and manage expediting
- Implement innovative solutions to add value and drive efficiencies.
- Manage the configuration and reporting in SAP to ensure ongoing establishment and maintenance activities
- Participate in the development of knowledge relating to the procurement process across the business, including the operation of SAP
- Maintain programs for vendor analysis and cost reduction improving the overall efficiency of the procurement process
- Promote compliance to contract management practises and processes with the ability to provide support to stakeholders.
- Maintain strong communication with stakeholders ensuring they remain informed and engaged.
- Liaise and engage with stakeholders to provide input on continuous improvement activities.
Essential Qualifications and experience;
- Proven experience in a Procurement position or similar
- Strong experience utilising the principles and practices of commercial negotiation
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and SAP systems with MM modules
- Certificate in Procurement and Supply Operations (desirable)
- Experience working in the mining or other heavy industry would be beneficial
- Strong time management, organisational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
