About our client
Our client is a multinational organization that provides products such as conveyors, fasteners to name a few, to various industries including FMCG and mining. They are an established player in their industry with years of experience. They have created a new position and therefore seeking a Product and Application Engineer.
About the role
- Work directly with internal and external stakeholders to determine the cause and resolve product issues, including manufacturing, quality, or performance. This work will often take place in the field at the customer site or in the manufacturing facility.
- Collaborating with the global engineering team, design creative products, processes and other solutions that maximize the value to internal and external customers. Lead efforts to implement new product manufacturing and engineering changes at the local operation.
- Gain expertise on company HD products and become a trusted resource on product specification, installation and Application advice.
- Spend time with key stakeholders, including end users, HD specialists, territory managers, marketing, service teams to gain a deep understanding of their perspective and needs for product function and performance.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders through presentations, reports, email, etc as needed. Be constructively critical, clear, proactive and persuasive in communications. Serve as a resource for product application advice to other engineers, marketing, territory managers, and other internal and external customers.
- Provide constructive feedback to manager on performance of team members as appropriate. Gain skills in soliciting and offering advice to team members. Regularly evaluate own performance and proactively set ambitious performance goals. Solicit feedback from team members on a regular basis for areas of improvement technically and interpersonally.
- Coordinate with manufacturing to provide direction and functional requirements of custom HD Product “Specials” builds, prototypes, special equipment, and tooling designed for HD products.
Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering field.
- Must have experience dealing with Mining Customers
- 5 years in an engineering role, inclusive of relevant co-op or internship.
- Experience working with bulk material handling systems and conveyor components in mining applications preferred.
- Familiarity with a variety of manufacturing processes, including laser cutting, metal forming, CNC, and welding.
- Knowledge and proficiency in 3D CAD, SolidWorks preferred.
- Familiarity with the mechanical properties of a variety of materials including ferrous and non-ferrous metals, rubbers and polyurethane.
- Experience working in person with internal and external stakeholders to resolve manufacturing, design, quality and product application issues.
- Professional Proficiency with the English language.
- Demonstrated hands-on approach and ability to advance product designs from concept to model to engineering drawings.
