Where the team fits in
The Product Designer, Design Systems is a member of the Design team which partners with Product and Engineering teams across the business to create amazing products and experiences for our consumers and customers. Our world-class team designs experiences that connect people and property, through immersive, intuitive and personalised experiences, providing Australians with knowledge and confidence to make great property decisions. Their passion for innovation drives them to create products our consumers and customers love.
In this role, you'll be responsible for amplifying design and enabling cross-functional product teams to perform at their best. This will be achieved by maintaining and improving the Design strategic pillars; Systems, Tools, Process, People and Culture.
Day to day you'll be working with cross functional partners in Product and Engineering, collaborating to expand, maintain and improve Construct Kit, REA's design system.
You'll have working knowledge of user interface design, interaction design, research processes and applying these with support to validate design decisions with developers to help craft world class experiences.
What the role is all about
- Explore new ideas and creative solutions that help provide tools and systems for designers and developers to do their best work
- Understand opportunities, user needs, and technical constraints to deliver products and services to our internal customers
- Follow appropriate processes and practices to solve problems in a consistent and efficient way. This includes utilising our doc site and working within Federated Design frameworks
- Work effectively with team members and stakeholders to solve problems and meet common goals. Share insight to foster a shared understanding and alignment with a 'REA-first' mindset
- Work with others to plan, prioritise and undertake 'just enough design' using a lean mindset to achieve goals and deliver on objectives
- Give and receive feedback with positive intent to build productive relationships and ensure diverse viewpoints are incorporated in design solutions
- Deliver world-class products for our users, leveragingappropriate methods such as sketching, prototyping, user interface design, and interaction design
- Ensure usability of products and features by validating usability, ensuring accessibility and desirability
- Present work and participate in providing feedback in regular design critiques to ensure consistency and quality outcomes
- Regularly pair with our Senior Product Designer, Design Systems to generate ideas and refine concepts that best suit the needs of our customers and consumers
- Partner with our design and mobile communities to guide on best practice and identify opportunities to expand our design system to continuously improve our product experiences
Who we're looking for
- Someone with a few runs on the board, experience creating products using industry standard tools and best practice processes
- Ideally some experience working in a design system team *,* or experiencecreating and maintaining Design Systems
- A fundamental understanding of the development process
- Looks at tricky situations through a system focused lens
- Work productively in a fast paced and agile environment to create impact
