Exciting and very rewarding opportunity to join our organisation and utilise your product development skills. We currently have an opening in the companies Notting Hill, Melbourne branch for a high level, enthusiastic, creative, self-motivated and competent individual who can add value to our R&D team.
Overview of the role
You will be working with the R&D team developing new products from initial specification to final product in the customer’s hand. You will be involved in undertaking most key elements of the development process and will be responsible for managing your projects from start to finish. The role will involve occasional interstate travel.
Key skills required
- Demonstrated experience in developing mechanical products from brief to completion.
- Proficiency in Parametric 3D solid modelling.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Comprehensive knowledge of design for manufacture (DFM) with a focus on metals and plastics.
- Competent in producing manufacturing information (engineering drawings, BOMs, specifications etc.).
- Effective communication skills for team collaboration.
- Willingness to learn new skills as a requirement of each project undertaken.
- Hands-on experience in workshop environments (will be involved in the manufacture and testing of prototypes and off tool samples).
- Self-motivated with a creative mindset.
Additional preferred requirements (but not essential) of the applicant:
- Product development project management (mentoring and training can be given)
- Solidworks experience (training will be given to the right candidate if they have experience in a different parametric 3D solid modelling software)
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office
- FEA analysis
- Machining using a Mill and/or lathe etc.
- Supplier management experience (organising manufacture of new parts and/or products)
- Intellectual Property experience
At minimum, we are looking for a Product / Mechanical / Design Engineer Degree Graduate with at least 5 years experience in designing mechanical products.
Working from home (WFH)
We are completely flexible with work from home (WFH) arrangements for the successful candidate. After the initial onboarding and training, the option is available to WFH on an ongoing basis, unless travel to the office or interstate is required (such as to use the workshop, and/or staff meetings).
