The role
Auto & General is thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for a Product Owner role, covering for a team member on parental leave until February 2025!
The Product Owner contributes to great product outcomes by ensuring that the requirements of the business and the needs of the end-users are clearly articulated to the Agile Development team so that the developed solutions meet all stakeholders’ needs and are in line with the strategic goals of the organisation.
Their use of agile product management techniques allows them to influence and guide the development of market fit products while their leadership skills foster a high level of inspirational motivation and ownership in the agile development team.
- Achieve specific business performance outcomes through the design and delivery of customer and business-focused solutions to incrementally improve our insurance claims processes within a complex regulatory environment.
- Prioritisation and execution for key parts of a delivery stream focused on improving our current claims software while being aware of other strategic delivery streams.
- Take responsibility of the Planning and Organisation of sprint backlogs
- Engage with and perform key Agile duties within your delivery team.
- Assisting in the Concept and Initiate phases of the Agile Workflow.
- Work alongside dedicated Subject Matter Experts and Business Analysts to produce Requirements, Stories, and Tasks for your delivery team.
- Actively participate, contribute, and execute against a Community of Practice to ensure alignment across the Product Owner role in the delivery process.
- Help the Agile team deliver prioritised new software features that add value to A&G, our staff, and customers.
- Identifying testable potential improvements to the software based on the product scorecard metrics Senior Leadership wishes to shift.
- Use Jira, Confluence, Miro, and BPM software to document existing systems where required and proposed solutions as needed.
- Engage with senior business stakeholders to ensure solutions meet a complex set of business requirements.
- Ensure consistency of customer experience.
- Responsible for approval of features alongside the Testing team and the broader business before release to our customers
What experience you’ll bring
- A minimum of 2 years experience working as a Product Owner/Technical Product Manager (for external applicants) or minimum of 3 years working at A&G (for internal applicants)
- Formal University qualifications in technology or business will be valued but not required
- Good communication skills are essential
- Great documentation skills are imperative to success
- A willingness to lead discussions and facilitate meetings
