Product Owner, Digital Incubation & Growth

To bring this ambition to life, the Digital Incubation & Growth team performs early experimentation on new connected and personalised healthcare propositions as well as delivering new customer-focussed, digital-first products and services.

What’s your role?

As a Product Owner for the Digital Incubation & Growth team, you will relentlessly advocate for our customer, taking a whole of Bupa ‘customer journey’ mindset and collaborating across all market units to deliver improved services and experiences. You will ensure the Delivery Team are building product in the right way to de-risk delivery as fast as possible.

This role focuses looking building the Bupa of tomorrow rather than incrementally improving the Bupa of today.

Please note this is a 12 month contract opportunity.

What will your day look like?

• You will focus on Discovery and Experimentation, designing experiments to achieve rapid testing of innovation initiatives, to enable evidence-based decision making and communicating value outcomes to drive adoption of experimentation and innovation.
• Contribute novel approaches to customer problems worthy of validation outside the status quo, including experiment design to collect indicative evidence on emerging or future capability as rapidly as possible and without.
• You will focus on cross functional experimentation, driving successful business outcomes by bringing together specialists such as user experience, visual designers, and agency partners, to define and create engaging and delightful experiments and customer experiences.
• Partner with business stakeholders to understand business drivers, considerations, and influence outcomes.
• Partner with start-up companies to design and deliver experiments via pilot programmes or proof-of-concept integrations of their new services within Bupa.
• Partner with data and analytics to develop a deep understanding of customers and customer behaviours to inform decisions and product development.
• Provide product leadership by defining stories and acceptance criteria to deliver the minimum viable product or prototype and successive iteration and horizon mapping. Ensure focus on relevant stories and priority of team backlog and roadmap.
• Engage and motivate the delivery team with the product vision by communicating the business benefits of the product / features.
• Create, prioritise, and maintain the team backlog, defining release and sprint goals and answering questions to add detail to user stories.

• Demonstrated experience working within Experimentation.
• Experience leading work in an agile squad with a deep understanding of prioritisation and lean product techniques.
• Passion for working in a fast paced, dynamic, and collaborative environment alongside both business and start-up partners.
• An analytical focus with an appreciation of data analysis, commercial drivers, business viability and technical feasibility
• Proven facilitation skills to run engaging and productive workshops and meetings.
• A genuine passion and empathy for Bupa customers, with an appetite to deeply understand their customer journeys and preferences.
• Expertise and demonstrable application of modern forms of product planning, customer discovery, product discovery, and product development process and execution.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complexity and ambiguity, with ability to analyse information logically to make evidence-based decisions.
• Consider yourself to be emotionally intelligent, a strategic innovator with proven ability to identify and influence all parts of the system required to create sustainable change.
• Strong coaching team ethos to build on others’ strengths and improve on blind spots, giving and listening to feedback.
• Ability to communicate customer research, strategy, and analytics in a way that champions the customer, and inspires action.
