The Opportunity
We are looking for casual team members to join us in our incredible BMS, Fabric Cutting, Quality Control and Sewing teams.
These roles will involve the any of the following:
 
Cutting
  • Spreading on an automatic Gerber Spreader, for bulk cutting on a Pathfinder Cutting machine.
  • Effectively ensuring the marker length and ply count is in line with the mini marker printout, Report any spreading issues and any fabric flaws in the fabric to the senior person in charge.
  • Safe practice carrying and lifting heavy fabric rolls up to 20 kgs with another person
  • Operating the Pathfinder CAD cutting machine.
  • Hand cutting recut panels with scissors & bundling into tubs at the Pathfinder offload.
  • Capable of withstanding physical demands of the position across a standard shift of 7.5/8 hrs. Including but not limited to; frequently standing on the spot, frequently sitting, bending, twisting, squatting, lifting and carrying weights of up to 20kgs and the use of both hands
BMS
  • Operate “put on” and “take off“ panel placement on the press (front and rear)
  • Ensure correct panel placement positioning is maintained to minimise reprint rework.
  • Ensure high quality control of printed panels coming off the press.
  • Change the paper rolls and waste paper rolls as required (2 person job for lifting off)
  • General manual handling of panels into bundles for sewing.
  • Press room housekeeping to a high standard.
  • Capable of withstanding physical demands of the position across a standard shift of 7.5/8 hrs. Including but not limited to; frequently standing on the spot, frequently sitting, bending, twisting, squatting, lifting and carrying weights of up to 20kgs and the use of both hands
QC
  • Snipping cotton thread and quality checking of sewn garments accurately and with fine eye for detail.
  • Folding, bundling and tagging of garments with correct swing tags i.e. licenced, non licenced.
  • Ensuring all non conforming sewing faults are alerted to the Quality Team Leader for repair in a timely manner.
  • Standing on an ergonomic mat across a standard shift 7.5-8hrs/day
  • Use of left and/or right hand for use of small hand tool (snipper) across a standard shift 7.5-8hrs/day
  • Bending from a standing position across a standard shift 7.5- 8hrs/day
  • Lift tubs of garments with weight approximately up to 20kgs, from ground and desk height across a standard shift 7.5- 8hrs/day
Sewing
  • Operation of industrial sewing machines (Plain Sewing, Overlocker & Coverseamer) with speed & accuracy
  • Sewing quality garments
  • Conduct basic to intermediate to advanced machine maintenance for self
  • Proactively communicate any machine/production feedback/suggestions or improvements (from self or from staff) to Production Manager in a timely manner
  • Capable of withstanding physical demands of the position across a standard shift of 7.5/8 hrs including but not limited to; Sitting frequently at a sewing machine, bending, twisting, squatting, lifting and carrying weights up to 2.5kg

  • Availability to work across day shift or afternoon shift 7:00am - 11:00pm (in our Cutting or BMS teams)
  • High level of attention to detail, extraordinary speed and accuracy & an understanding of quality control
  • Good understanding of fabric types, patterns and cutting techniques - advantageous
  • Solutions focused with effective problem solving skills
  • Good communication skills working with your fellow teammates, with the ability to follow instructions & work autonomously
  • Ability to show initiative when working towards deadlines and targets
  • Safety focused
  • Capable of withstanding physical demands of the position across a standard shift of 7.5/8 hrs. Including but not limited to; frequently standing on the spot, frequently sitting, bending, twisting, squatting, lifting and carrying weights of up to 20kgs and the use of both hands
  • Friendly and flexible with a great work ethic
  • 2 years industrial sewing experience (essential for Sewing roles)
