We are seeking qualified Maintenance and Mechanical Fitters to become integral parts to diverse maintenance teams. These roles are critical in ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of operations across various businesses, encompassing responsibilities in preventative maintenance, equipment repair, and continuous improvement.
We are also seeking Production Coordinators to work in manufacturing plants.
Position description
Position title: Production Coordinator
Department: Production
Reports to: Operations Manager
Supervises: Production workers (in coordination with the Production Supervisor)
Summary
The Production Coordinator is responsible for managing and overseeing the daily production activities within the manufacturing plant. This newly created role aims to bridge the gap between the Operations Manager and the Production Supervisor, ensuring smooth operations, effective communication, and efficient workflow.
The Production Coordinator will work closely with the production team to meet production targets, maintain quality standards and ensure a safe working environment.
Key responsibilities
- Production planning and coordination
- Assist in developing daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules
- Monitor production processes and adjust schedules as needed to meet production targets
- Coordinate with the Production Supervisor to ensure adequate staffing levels for each shift
- Workflow management
- Oversee the allocation of tasks and resources to ensure efficient workflow
- Identify and resolve production bottlenecks and issues promptly
- Ensure all production activities are carried out in accordance with established procedures and standards
- Quality control
- Monitor the quality of raw materials and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards
- Implement quality control procedures and conduct regular inspections
- Work with the Operations Manager and the Production Supervisor to address and resolve any quality issues
- Communication and reporting
- Serve as a liaison between the Operations Manager, Production Supervisor and production workers
- Communicate production goals, schedules, and any changes to the production team
- Prepare and present regular reports on production performance, issues, and improvement opportunities
- Safety and compliance
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and promote a safe working environment
- Conduct regular safety inspections and implement corrective actions as needed
- Maintain accurate records of safety incidents and production-related documentation
- Team development
- Assist in training and developing production staff
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment
- Provide feedback and support to production workers to enhance their performance and productivity
Qualifications:
- Education and experience
- Diploma or degree in production management, manufacturing, engineering or a related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment, preferably in the agricultural products or manufacturing industry
- Previous experience in a supervisory or coordination role is highly desirable
- Skills and competencies
- Strong organisational and planning skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
- Proficiency in production management software and tools
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a manufacturing environment

Key responsibilities
- Conduct regular maintenance inspections and identify technical issues
- Execute machinery modifications and fit custom-fabricated components
- Maintain hydraulic, pneumatic systems, and other crucial equipment
- Adhere to safety, quality, and environmental best practices
- Work collaboratively with teams across various departments
- Participate in training and development opportunities
- Certification in Mechanical Engineering (Cert III or higher)
- Strong experience in mechanical fitting, ideally in a manufacturing, timber, agrifood, agricultural products, steel fabrication, engineering, energy or food processing environment;
- Excellent communication, time management, and multitasking skills
- A proactive learner, open to embracing new technologies
- Valid driver's license; additional certifications like forklift license preferred

Additional information
- Roles involve standard Monday to Friday schedules or shift work for 24 hour plants, with optional weekend and on-call duties
- Prior to commencement, a pre-employment functional assessment, Drug and Alcohol testing, and Q Fever vaccination are required for some roles
