Together with creating and manufacturing our wonderful Cranky Health products, they are an innovation hub for the health and wellness industry, working with many external parties.

We are on the lookout for a dynamic and driven Production Manager to join the Custom Foods team, stepping in due to internal advancements. This exciting role places you at the heart of our fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) environment, where you'll oversee the entire manufacturing process.

Your mission? To ensure production runs efficiently and within budget, while upholding the highest quality standards and prioritizing safety above all else.

Reporting to the Head of Operations, you'll be a key player in our continuous improvement journey. Your focus will be on boosting production efficiency, reducing waste, and optimizing processes using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.

At our state-of-the-art Richlands facility, which operates on a two-shift schedule, you'll take charge of the Afternoon Shift from 1:36pm to 9:36pm. To ensure a smooth transition and handover from the earlier shift, an early start will be part of your routine. You will be responsible for

  • Safety First: Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing health and safety regulations, including regular safety audits and risk assessments.
  • Safety Culture: Foster a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement in safety practices.
  • Quality Assurance: Work closely with quality assurance teams to maintain compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Quality Culture: Foster an unwavering commitment to excellence and precision in every aspect of production.
  • Team Leadership: Inspire, lead, and develop a dedicated team of production Area Leaders and Operators, promoting a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Performance Development: Conduct thorough performance reviews and offer training and development opportunities to foster growth.
  • Maximize Efficiency: Skilfully manage manpower, equipment, and materials to ensure optimal resource utilization, applying lean manufacturing principles to streamline processes.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement innovative improvements to boost efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Data Analysis: Analyse production data to identify trends, issues, and areas for improvement.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Planning and Procurement teams, to ensure timely availability of raw materials.
  • Budget Management: Oversee and control production budgets, costs, and productivity to ensure financial efficiency.

On day one you’ll have

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Management, or a related field.
  • Industry Expertise: Extensive working knowledge of food manufacturing and packaging machinery is essential.
  • Production Management: Demonstrated knowledge of production management principles, including Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven leadership and team management abilities.
  • Analytical Abilities: Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in using production management software and tools.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: In-depth knowledge of health and safety standards and compliance with manufacturing principles.
