My client is a large mining house, that owns and operates several mining operations in QLD. They are a key contributor the regional communities their assets and operations reside in. They provide a wide array of employment opportunities within the mining sector.
The Opportunity
Our client is looking to appoint an experienced Production Superintendent at one of their Truck/Shovel/Dragline operations in the Mackay Coalfields, QLD. This position is a 7/7, even-time roster (FIFO, DIDO or Residential options available), newly created to compensate for increasing BCM and production rates. The asset itself is an innovative and dynamic open cut mining operation with an extensive mine life and future mine expansion projects in the pipeline.
This position will focus on the large overburden truck/shovel fleet. The primary objective in this role is to manage the team of Production Supervisors effectively, while maintaining/operating safe and highly productive mining standards within the pit.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining the operations gold standard workplace safety culture,
- Optimising, improving production and BCM rates (in a safe, efficient manner),
- Managing, enabling, training, and mentoring your direct reporting line(s) – Production Supervisors,
- Presenting key metrics, observations, and continuous improvement initiatives to the weekly and monthly production meetings,
- Collaborating with relevant operational and functional units (such as HSE and Risk) to establish and enforce A+ site standards and procedures for pre- and post-shift safety protocols and routines.
- 4+ years’ experience as Production, Mining or Operations Superintendent in open cut/pit truck/shovel mining operations (AU),
- Demonstrated ability to remain solution-oriented and composed under pressure,
- An OCE-background would be held in high regard (although, not a non-negotiable skill),
- Strong interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships through transparent communication and inclusive consultation,
- A collaborative mindset, adept at working alongside others to achieve common goals.
- Genuine commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful workplace, free from harassment, discrimination, or victimisation,
- Must be FIFO, DIDO or Residentially based within QLD (relocation offered to interstate candidates if required).
