We are looking for a Superintendent Production Hydrate to manage and lead the Hydrate production team. This is a hands-on leadership role integral to ensuring safe and efficient operations with a focus on continuous improvement at our Yarwun Site.
This is a great opportunity for a strong frontline leader who can work closely with the production team to achieve the production plan and uphold the integrity and performance of equipment. Equally as important you will be nurturing and developing a large team consisting of team leaders, advisors, specialists, and technicians in the hydrate production team.

Reporting to the Manager of Production and working a Monday to Friday roster, you will be:
- Accountable for HSE performance and compliance within the hydrate production team;
- Ensure the digestion process is running to its optimal capability for production, product quality and raw material consumption;
- Providing Support and mentorship to the team.
- Develop, implement and maintain systems and procedures to maximise production capability and area drumbeat;
- Troubleshoot process deviations from target in a timely manner and implement solutions.
- Deliver production planning for forward and upcoming area work or shutdowns.
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Frontline leadership experience of operational teams
- Technical knowledge of a plant operation
- Trade qualification or Engineering degree beneficial but not essential

Where you will be working
With production beginning in 2004 at our Yarwun alumina refinery, located approximately 10 kilometres north-west of Gladstone in Central Queensland, today the operation produces more than three million tonnes of alumina per year. Thanks to its ‘Industry 4.0’ focus, Yarwun is also a leader in trialling new technologies to improve operations on site, including 3D printing, robotics and drones in confined spaces, and is home to Rio Tinto’s innovative Queensland Research and Development Centre (QRDC). Along with Boyne Smelters Limited and Queensland Alumina Limited, our Yarwun Operation supports the local community in a wide range of initiatives through Here for Gladstone.
