THE ROLE

Reporting to the Site Operations Manager, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Production Team Leader to play a key role ensuring production targets are met as well as being responsible for managing the production plan.

The Team Leader will set the Production Schedule then create the Plan for the Five Am team at Carrum Downs, while optimising site performance.  The challenge within this position comes from the product short shelf life and production lead time, so previous experience within food manufacturing is essential. 

This role will work with the different functions to ensure materials and labour are available to meet projected manufacturing requirements, control inventory levels and keep write offs to a minimum while importantly improving and maintaining DIFOT. 

Some key responsibilities of this role includes (but not limited to):

• Lead and supervise the day shift Production team to achieve production targets and KPIs, including training and performance management of team
• Develop production schedule and plan and optimise process
• Meet agreed production plans within specified material, labour and equipment utilisation.
• Support the maintenance function in driving a reduction in unplanned downtime and ensuring a reliability focus.
• Support the management of the teams short, medium and long term performance, manage adherence to policies and seek continuous improvements to meet Company objectives.
• Manage production reporting requirements, including OEE.
• Drive a safety-first culture and address any safety concerns promptly

ABOUT YOU

This pivotal role is best suited to an experienced Production Team Leader with food manufacturing experience, ideally in dairy.  

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Previous experience in a similar role within a food manufacturing company
• Production Planning experience – including Intermediate Excel skills
• Tertiary qualifications in Science, Engineering or equivalent preferred but not essential
• Proactive and dedicated to Safety and Quality
• Ability to effectively liaise and communicate with all levels of the business. 
• Ability to make decisions, influence others and problem solve. 
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• A proactive and flexible attitude that is willing to support others
• A proven track record in implementing continuous improvement and managing projects.
• Strong technical aptitude with the ability to operate and troubleshoot production equipment effectively.
• Knowledge and understanding of the principles and application of HACCP and GMP
• The proven ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
