Production Technician - Valley Power 2024
Snowy Hydro is a dynamic, integrated energy business that has been providing on-demand, reliable energy to Australia for over 70 years. Snowy Hydro owns and operates a powerful combination of generation assets, including the 4,100-megawatt Snowy Mountains Scheme, gas and diesel plants, and has recently contracted wind and solar energy. We also provide electricity and gas to about 1 million retail customers through Red Energy and Lumo Energy.
Snowy 2.0 is the next chapter in the Snowy Scheme's history, a nation-building renewable energy project providing on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come.
An exciting opportunity exists for a suitably qualified, motivated and driven Production Technician - (Operator / Maintainer) to join the team working at our Valley Power Station near Traralgon Victoria. This role will be responsible for applying specialised plant knowledge to safely deliver the required availability and reliability of the plant in the most effective and efficient way. Key tasks and accountabilities include, but are not limited to, developing and implementing regional plant improvements, performing routine maintenance, identifying root causes of plant failures, planning work schedules, managing site contractor works and operating the plant as required.
To be successful in this role you will need:
A trade background Electrical or Mechanical with a minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience.
Comprehensive knowledge of gas and diesel power stations, operations and access requirements.
Knowledge of maintenance program requirements, analysis techniques and maintenance management practices
Experience with CMMS systems (Ellipse preferred)
Experience in developing asset register and maintenance plans
Comprehensive knowledge of planning, access authorisation and scheduling systems
Demonstrated fault-finding & plant diagnostic skills along with a high understanding of plant reliability principles
Ability to participate in an on call roster with a callout response time of 1 hour
Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of personnel to provide a consistent, reliable and high level of service
Strong computer literacy involving spreadsheets and statistical analysis
Demonstrated alignment with SHL's Values and Behaviours

Ability to propose new ideas and contribute to quality improvements
Desirable Attributes
Type B Gas Licence
