- Discipline leadership, cohering the team, supporting recruitment of new staff and oversight of national delivery on two campuses
- Undertake Program coordination including ensuring best practice in curriculum and managing AASW accreditation requirements against curriculum for program development and approval processes, and collaborating with the Faculty executive related to curriculum quality, learning and teaching
- Contribute to lectures, tutorials, and other student learning delivery, and to marking and assessment as appropriate within the discipline of Social Work
- Supervise major honours and postgraduate student projects
- Play an active role in the maintenance of academic standards and in the development of educational policy and of curriculum areas within the discipline
- Develop policy and be involved in administrative matters within the department or other comparable organisational unit and within the institution
- Participate in and provide leadership in community affairs, particularly those related to the discipline, in professional, commercial and industrial sectors where appropriate
- Conduct research in compliance with the National Statement on Research Ethics as well as the AASW Code of ethics (in professional practice and its preparation) and develop research policy
- Foster the research of other groups and individuals within the department or other comparable organisational unit and within the discipline and within related disciplines
- Play a significant role in research projects including leadership of a research team
- Comply with policies and procedures in all aspects of their work and conduct
- Commit University resources in line with Policy, procedure, and the Operational Delegations of Authority
- A PhD in Social Work or a cognate discipline
- Completion of an AASW accredited program of study, or qualifications from overseas that have been recognised by the AASW as comparable to an AASW approved Social Work qualification and AASW membership (that recognises your qualifications)
- Knowledge of, and ability to apply, current AASW accreditation standards to curriculum development and implementation.
- Proven ability to prepare, coordinate and deliver high quality teaching and learning in a sequence of AASW accredited Social Work programs, including the ability to lead curriculum development informed by contemporary developments in Social Work education and related disciplines.
- Ability to lead academic and/or professional learning, teaching, research, practice and/or provide student support.
- Demonstrated track record of quality research in the field of Social Work relative to level for an academic appointment OR equivalent clinical experience for a teaching-focused appointment.
- Experience contributing to a research team or project/s is desirable.
- Demonstrated ability and ongoing willingness to encourage, facilitate and supervise the research of professional, Honours, HDR, and PhD students in Social Work.
- Demonstrated commitment to cultural awareness, safety, and security, including when engaging professionally with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
