This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 2, 2024

Hammond Park Secondary College (SC) is seeking a dedicated and innovative individual to join their leadership team in the role of Program CoordinatorHead of Operations.  In collaboration with the college’s leadership team the successful applicant will provide strategic leadership of college operations.

The Head of Operations will be an integral member of the leadership team assisting the executive team in all aspects of college operations. As a strategic and self-driven leader you will ideally need to be able to work across teams and independently, and have excellent interpersonal skills to lead a range of Operations ensuring excellent student outcomes.

Major responsibilities include: the college timetable, reporting processes, - excursion policy and procedures, rosters, parent evenings, overseeing pre-service teachers and a range of testing schedules including examinations, National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN), Online Literacy and Numeracy assessment (OLNA) and Progressive Achievement Tests (PAT) testing. In addition, the Head of Operations should be highly skilled in a range of Information Technology. An understanding of Compass - is highly desirable.

As the Program CoordinatorHead of Operations, you will be working to support the college vision and values and strategic directions. As a growing college the role will evolve as the college grows and you will ideally need to be an agile and responsive leader who seeks innovative solutions to complex problems.

In their own right, the Program CoordinatorHead of Operations should be an expert classroom practitioner.  The successful applicant would be a high-performer with successful leadership and management experience in a secondary context and possess the capability and commitment required to build and sustain a culture of excellence in teaching and learning.

In 2024 we welcomed our first cohort of Year 11 students and by 2025 we will be a full 7 to 12 senior high school. The college provides local students with a dynamic and innovative learning environment centred around the social and emotional wellbeing of each child.

The college provides challenging, engaging and intentional instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all students, and fosters a culture of life long learning. Student voice and agency is a key aspect of the college in creating high expectations and an environment where all can flourish.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:

  • Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
  • High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
  • Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
  • Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

Eligibility and training requirements

 Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
