The Opportunity:
As the Program Director – Misson Systems working in the Mission IT and Security Solutions (MITSS) line of business, you will be responsible for a portfolio of projects, including driving the strategy, business development and project delivery within your portfolio.
You will lead a team of project and program managers, providing direction, oversight and governance of the planning, execution, and successful delivery of technical projects. Project/programs in your portfolio will be at various stages of the project life cycle and you will be instrumental in establishing project delivery teams as new projects emerge.
Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities of the role will include, but are not limited to:
Manage all aspects of project/program execution including performance, quality, budgets, and schedule
Lead, mentor and guide a high-performing team of program and project managers
Manage program financials and budgets including compilation and management of forecasts, and tracking and reporting of program performance against forecasts and relevant KPIs
Undertake relationship management across the portfolio, including development of trusted relationships with key/major clients and stakeholders
Prepare appropriate progress reports to internal and external stakeholders using key program metrics
Ensure program operational, quality, administrative, governance and compliance functions are properly executed and met
Drive operational efficiencies across the portfolio with a focus on meeting key delivery requirements
Expand portfolio offering and enhance quality and efficiency of existing programs and projects
Acquire a thorough understanding of key/major client and stakeholder needs and requirements to support opportunity identification and development
Actively grow the portfolio by increasing work scope with existing customers and projects, and by actively working with the Strategy and Business Development team to win new opportunities
Coordinate resource planning to meet portfolio needs
Prioritise whole of portfolio workload to routinely meet negotiated deadlines and ensure business needs are satisfied
Strategic analysis of the micro and macro environments associated with portfolio domain/capability line
Manage risks and issues, offer/provide appropriate solutions with problem solving approach to issue resolution
Establish key performance goals and objectives for projects/programs, including monitoring the performance of program team members and provide coaching/feedback as required, providing performance reviews and evaluation of subordinate staff
Rely upon experience, interpersonal skills and knowledge of programs to ensure task completion in compliance with commercial requirements/contract, policies, procedures, quality standards and business strategy
Actively engage within the line of business and broader Government Solutions APAC business to build professionalism and positive workplace culture and ethos
As the ideal candidate you will bring:
Essential:
Extensive leadership and management experience delivering large and complex technical projects in a Defence or Defence Industry environment
Experience leading teams of systems/software engineers
Demonstrated experience leading large, milestone-based projects successfully
Track record of problem-solving and analytical thinking
Excellent business acumen and a commercially minded approach
Proven ability to effectively manage relationships with key senior stakeholders both internally and externally in a Defence/ Defence Industry environment
Results-oriented and proven ability to drive sustained business growth through successful delivery to high standards
Demonstrated experience in governance and compliance of programs of work and effectively managing and overseeing multiple schedules, budgets and teams to achieve success
Strong influencing, negotiation and interpersonal skills
Extensive and relevant network across Defence and Federal government with market/industry knowledge and expertise
NV1 Australian Government security clearance
