The successful candidate will be appointed to either a Senior Lecturer - Program Lead or Associate Professor -Program Lead role, according to their experience and qualifications. About Flinders Rural and Remote Health SA

Flinders University Rural and Remote Health SA (FRRHSA) facilitates high quality multidisciplinary health education and research in our State's regional areas.

We have a strong national and international reputation for providing community-engaged inter-professional training for medical, nursing, and allied health students. This includes offering longitudinal rural clinical placements in years 3 and 4 of the Flinders University MD program. Through this practice, we bring new and exciting opportunities to actively engage and work with rural communities.

About the SA Rural Medical Program

The new SA Rural Medical (SARM) Program is a Commonwealth funded; end-to-end rural medical program based in our Rural SA campuses. The SARM Program is one of the components that forms the University’s Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) program which sits within the College of Medicine and Public Health. The aim of the SARM Program is to contribute to strengthening the medical workforce in Rural South Australia. This is achieved through the delivery of a fully accredited 4-year Doctor of Medicine program that is supported by dedicated academic and professional staff based in our Rural SA campuses. The SARM Program will develop the medical workforce and transform the landscape of Rural and Remote South Australia.

About the Role

The Program Lead SA Rural Medical (SARM) Program is a newly developed and exciting opportunity to become a pivotal leader within Flinders University Rural and Remote Health SA.

The role will have a primary focus on teaching related activities and has a significant role to play in the University’s achievement of its strategic plan, Making a Difference: The 2025 Agenda. Senior Lecturer - Program Lead - Level C

The Program Lead will provide leadership in delivering excellence in teaching and learning across the full 4 years of the new SA Rural Medical Program and will develop curriculum for delivery of the Flinders University MD program in a rural setting. This role will also teach within the SARM Program.

The incumbent will be responsible for making a significant and wide-ranging contribution to leadership in teaching and scholarship of teaching, using innovations in teaching practices and technologies to deliver excellence in teaching. They will be expected to draw upon their significant and senior roles in clinical practice to develop industry partnerships for work integrated learning, deliver innovate placement models and provide contemporary and high-quality placement education, both through clinical skills training, simulation, and service provision. The Program Lead - SARM Program will also have a key leadership role in service to the University.

Associate Professor - Program Lead - Level D

The Associate Professor and Program Lead will provide high level leadership and direction in delivering excellence in teaching and learning across the full 4 years of the new SA Rural Medical Program and will develop curriculum for delivery of the Flinders University MD program in a rural setting. This role will also teach within the SARM Program.

The incumbent will be responsible for providing sustained leadership in teaching and the scholarship of teaching through original and innovative contributions which deliver excellence in teaching. The Associate Professor and Program Lead will also make a significant contribution to leadership and managerial activities of the University and be recognised for their contribution to the profession at the local, national and international level.

This role can be based at any of the following Flinders Rural and Remote Health SA sites:

  • Mount Gambier
  • Renmark
  • Nuriootpa
  • Victor Harbor
  • Murray Bridge

About You

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

  • Doctorate in a related field or equivalent clinical/professional experience and standing
  • Currently registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • A strong understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary education practice relevant to the discipline, particularly the application of Team-Based Learning (TBL) in the delivery of medical curriculum
  • Significant and sustained evidence of excellence in teaching performance at a tertiary level, inclusive of TBL, simulation and/or clinical setting
  • A passion for Indigenous health and building relationships with Indigenous elders and community groups
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a positive workplace culture, and role modelling behaviours that support the University’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) and commitment to enhancing educational and research advancement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
