The Program Manager, Major Bids is responsible for managing the planning, development and submission of major proposals and bids for external funding opportunities including major competitive grants, major projects and partnerships involving government or partner organisations that are considered strategically important.
As a Program Manager, Major Bids, you will:
Lead the planning, development and coordination of high-quality bid submissions in collaboration with research teams, academic and professional staff, to ensure the preparation of high calibre submissions in order to contribute to the improvement of the University’s application, including the development of business cases, proposed funding requirements, resource plans and project plans.
Interpret funding rules and eligibility criteria for major bid rounds, including provision of advice to assist the Executive Director, Research Funding Services and senior leaders within the research community to evaluate and prioritise major bid submission, including the evaluation of individual research contributions where the number of bids for the University is limited.
Maintain awareness of major and institutional research related funding opportunities and plan proposals through partnerships developed with academic and professional staff in faculties and institutes, partnerships developed with other Universities colleagues and partners, monitoring of calls for Major Bids from major funding bodies and gathering intelligence regarding upcoming bids.
Understand environmental trends and integrate this knowledge into maintaining a very high level of expertise in bid coordination and submission and coordinate services to and liaison with the relevant funding body on behalf of the University.
Build and inspire a culture of integrity, accountability, and inclusive practice across Deakin to ensure alignment of all functional and operational business plans to Deakin’s strategic plan. To be successful, you’ll have:
Postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience
Extensive experience in university research management or commercial development
Extensive experience in initiating, development and managing projects within an agreed timeframe.
Extensive experience in establishing complex, multi-party relationships.
Excellent knowledge of the University sector competitive funding environment.
