Job description

Program Officer, Temporary Part-time Role up to 7 June 2025.
Deliver Sport and Recreation outcomes for schools, sporting, and community groups in a Program Officer role.
 

We are seeking a Program Officer for a temporary part-time role (12 rostered days across a 4 week cycle) up to 7 June 2025. The role will be based at our Lake Burrendong Sport and Recreation Centre.

We offer a competitive salary to the right candidate, ranging from $72,692 up to $106,440 per annum (ProRata) plus allowances ($12,979) full time equivalent, 11% superannuation and 17.5% leave loading. Commencing salary is in accordance with qualifications, skills, and experience.

The Office of Sport is the lead NSW Government agency for sport and active recreation.

About the role
The Program Officer is responsible for planning and delivering outdoor education and recreation programs. View the role description. In this role, you will be required to: 

  • Develop and deliver programs to meet client needs including sport and active recreation outcomes for a variety of sport, community and school groups.
  • Conduct activities in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Maintain high levels of customer service and adapt service delivery styles to match client groups.
  • Respond to client requests during programs including dealing with incidents and emergency situations .
  • For the Program Officer role, refer to Crown Employees (Office of Sort – Program Officers Award) and other applicable legislation.
  • Temporary part-time role, working 12 rostered days out of a 28 day cycle (4 weeks), inclusive of weekdays, weekends and nights.
  • Undertake on-call responsibilities overnight onsite during residential programs.


About you

  • You can plan and deliver outdoor education and recreation programs to a variety of sport, community, and school groups.
  • You can deliver programs in line with standard operating procedures.
  • You enjoy dealing with a variety of customers and can adapt service delivery to meet their needs.
  • You can deal with incidents and emergency situations.
  • You can collaborate with your colleagues/clients to deliver program components.
  • You have strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
     

Essential requirements

  • Degree level tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (e.g. Education, Exercise Science, Human Movement etc) or a Certificate IV in Outdoor Recreation and relevant industry experience.
  • First aid qualification and CPR qualification.
  • Undertake on-call responsibilities on a rostered basis during residential programs.
  • A National Criminal Records Check (NCRC) clearance and a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC).

The Office of Sport will conduct the NCRC and verify your WWCC if you are a preferred candidate.

Pre-screening questions

  1. What are the steps you take or would take when delivering a program to a client group to ensure you fully engage participants to maximise learning outcomes? How do you know you have been successful? 
  2. As a Program Officer you work with multiple teams within a Centre. These include Program Delivery, Catering, Services/Maintenance, and Management Teams. Describe a time where you have worked with your team and other functional team units to deliver a project? What was your role? How did you effectively plan? And how did you contribute to a positive team culture?
