Job Description:
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Project Accountant to join our dynamic team. As a Project Accountant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the financial success of our projects by overseeing all accounting functions related to specific projects or contracts. You will collaborate closely with project managers, finance teams, and other stakeholders to monitor project budgets, analyse financial data, and provide strategic insights to support decision-making.
Responsibilities:
- Develop project budgets and forecasts in collaboration with project managers. Analyse financial data to track project performance against budget and forecast, identifying variances and providing recommendations for corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate project accounting records, including revenue recognition, cost allocation, and expense tracking. Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Prepare timely and accurate financial reports for project stakeholders, including project managers, senior management, and external clients. Communicate financial performance and key metrics effectively to support decision-making.
- Implement cost control measures to optimise project profitability and mitigate financial risks. Monitor project expenses and identify opportunities for cost savings or efficiency improvements.
- Review project contracts and agreements to understand financial obligations and ensure compliance with terms and conditions. Collaborate with legal and procurement teams as needed.
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation, explanations, and analysis as required. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls.
- Utilise financial systems and software tools to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency. Recommend enhancements or upgrades to financial systems as needed.
- Provide financial expertise and guidance to project teams, offering insights on financial implications of business decisions and assisting in strategic planning initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Project Accountant or similar role, preferably in a project-based environment.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial analysis, and budgeting.
- Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
- Ability to prioritise tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of integrity and professionalism.
