Ventia have an exciting opportunity that has become available for a Project Accountant. This role offers excellent long-term opportunities to get involved in our Mining portfolio and is based in our Perth head office with opportunities for future flexible working.
Reporting directly into the Finance Manager, the Project Accountant will support the Finance Manager and Project Manager to deliver financial reporting and analysis for Ventia’s Mining portfolio, including assisting in accounting, budgeting, and forecasting. The Project Accountant will work with other members of the finance team on site and centrally to ensure accurate project reporting and provide timely insights to contract performance.
About you
This role would suit an individual with experience working within a matrix organisational structure who can demonstrate people, process and systems knowledge in finance and operations, and preferably you come from the mining sector. With plenty of growth projected as well, this role offers long term opportunities for an ambitious and motivated individual to get involved in this division moving forwards.
Key duties and responsibilities:
Ensure all Project accounting and financial data is maintained, analysed, and reported as required
Take ownership of Accounts Receivable, Billing and Cash inflow, this includes resolving billing queries, debtors ageing and cash inflow management
Act as a daily point of contact between Finance function and contract personnel
Provide relevant data, commentary, analysis, and reconciliations to make relevant business decisions. I.e. weekly, daily, and monthly reporting
Take a lead role in the financial month end process (including P&L and Balance Sheet Management) as per business timeframes
Analyse costs, pricing, margin results associated with the contract and provide commentary
Identify and report on the associated cost drivers of the contract
Assist the Finance Manager with budgets, forecasts, risk and opportunity management
Support the Finance Manager in all financial management of the contracts
Experience and qualifications:
Qualified as a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant or equivalent
Experience working in the mining sector is highly regarded
Demonstrated experienced and understanding of the core Project Accounting/Management Accounting processes
Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, advanced knowledge of Excel is advantageous
Experience in SAP, PowerBi & Power Query exposure is advantageous
Ability to deliver tasks within a dynamic, high-pressure environment
Demonstrated ability to work alone, stay motivated and organise and prioritise competing demands and priorities
Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work as a member of a team
