Utilise your commercial management expertise on a major, complex pipeline construction project on Barrow Island. Perth based with occasional site travel.
Job Summary
As the Commercial Manager you will be responsible for the contractual, financial and procurement functions of the project to identifying and resolve potential contractual and commercial (cost, time, safety and quality) issues; and working with the project manager to obtain client approval for any changes to scope (delays, disruption, variations, site instructions etc). Your responsibilities will include:
Develop and drive Commercial strategies to support the achievement of the project's business plan
Administration of the contract between the Client and Spiecapag
Ensure all notifications and contractual obligations are fulfilled
Manage the subcontractor contract negotiation function
Administer and manage Subcontracts ensuring that any progress claims issued are dealt with accordingly.
Oversee all cost, schedules, commercial and contractual matters
Overseeing procurement, stores, and cost control considerations
Manage and coordinate effective cost control systems and reporting from corporate office.
Provide timely and accurate reporting and analysis
Ensure all correspondence and notifications are issued in line with Contract obligations
Provide advice on effective risk management in regards commercial activities
Manage and be accountable for weekly and monthly project forecasts, inclusive of forecast cost to complete, estimate at complete and forecast margin.
Manage and report on current indirect and direct budget and planned spend for the project.
Manage and report on financial opportunities and risks
Manage and execute monthly reconciliations payment certifications and invoicing
Identify, recommend and implement schedule optimisation where possible.
Ensure all stakeholders are well informed contractually and commercially.
Manage all elements of project risk across commercial, quality, safety, financial, scope, and maintain an active opportunity and risk register.
Ensure all risks identified are tracked, communicated, and controlled
Manage procurement process within associated projects to ensure business practices around supply chain management are met. Focus on margin maximization and value delivery through leverage of supply chain

Qualifications/ Experience
Bachelor degree in Business, Quantity Surveying, Construction, Engineering degree or equivalent
Proven experience in the administration & management of contracts & contractors
Contractor based knowledge with experience in cost control and claims management on major projects
Demonstrated field leadership experience
A minimum of a minimum seven (7) years experience in construction contracting, with at least three of these as a Commercial Manager
Excellent management skills in construction.
Strong Financial, negotiating and change management skills.
Extensive experience in estimating, costing, planning and working to a budget.
Highly numerate, accurate and attentive to detail
Strong financial and reporting skills
Excellent leadership, interpersonal, negotiating and diplomacy skills.
Proven ability to drive and maintain operational improvements and efficiencies.
Advanced MS Excel skills and exposure to Sage X3 ERP or similar software
Excellent understanding of the importance of Project Deliverables: Contract Administration, Cost Management and Scheduling
