Project Construction Health & Safety Advisor

Pacific People Solutions are very pleased to partner with our valued client, Alpha HPA, to source a Health & Safety Advisor, Project Construction Team for their Stage Two Project, based on site in Gladstone.

Alpha HPA is an ASX-listed speciality metals and materials company focussed on commercialising its proprietary licensed solvent extraction (SX) & refining technology to produce High Purity Alumina (HPA) and related products for use in the bourgeoning lithium-ion battery and sapphire glass/LED lighting markets.

This is a key support role that will be responsible for the implementing, advising, monitoring & reviewing of the health and safety plans and objectives for the project.

You will also be tasked with the review of contractors Health Safety & Environment Plans and their relevant documentation as well as ensuring that their teams are adhering to the plans and procedures when undertaking their work.

This role will require an experienced individual who has knowledge of relevant regulations and standards governing construction works. Previous experience working in a brownfield or greenfield project delivery role with the ability to drive efficiencies & effectiveness, will be well regarded. 

The Health & Safety Advisor, Project Construction Team will report directly to the HSE Lead Project Construction Team and will work closely with the internal project leadership team as well as external consultants, vendors and contractors. The successful candidate will be based in the Gladstone Project Site Office.
  
This role will be offered as a fixed term contract until the practical completion of the project, approximately three years.

We would be really pleased to receive your application should you possess:

• Qualifications in Work Health and Safety 
• Certificate IV in Training & Assessment
• Previous experience in the training & facilitation of TAPROOT &/or ICAM
• Previous experience working in the oil, gas, petrochemical, mineral processing or industrial manufacturing sectors (essential)
• Experience in developing, implementing , monitoring & reviewing health and safety systems, standards and procedures. 
• Experience in preparing & issuing timely reports as well as organising & chairing weekly site meetings with contractors & subcontractors to address health and safety issues.
• Exceptional negotiation & influencing skills coupled with a self-motivated, highly pro-active & resilient attitude.   

This project-critical role will require a capable individual who can help to establish & embed the project fundamentals  of project management maturity, business value delivery, single point accountability, capable people and front-end loading.
