The Role
We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Project Health & Safety (HS) Advisor within the environmental and planning sector.
Reporting to the Project Health & Safety Manager, Squadron Energy (SQE), the Project HS Advisor is responsible for providing safety advice, investigation, and Safety audit services on SQE project sites.
This is a FIFO/DIDO role on a 2:1 roster.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead by example by role modelling the safety-first culture, demonstrating personal accountability for self-development, and achieving quality and timely results.
- Build and maintain effective and collaborative relationships with key internal and external stakeholders at all levels to foster strong awareness and commitment towards safety on construction projects.
- Provide advice and support to SQE management, employees, and contractors on the effective management of health & safety matters.
- Undertake health & safety system and performance auditing of contractors in consultation with the Project HS Manager, Project Director, site representatives and the SQE Safety Manager.
- Support the Project HS Manager with investigations of safety incidents as required.
- Ensure that any notifiable incidents are correctly reported.
- Monitor and report Project Health & safety performance to management, employees, and contractors to create awareness and improve overall behaviours.
- Undertake industry specific research to maintain knowledge in health & safety best practice.
- Work closely with the Project HS Manager to provide ongoing process and system improvements on construction projects to ensure quality HS outcomes.
About you
You will have:
- Demonstrated functional construction experience in a similar field Health and Safety role (approximately 5+ years).
- Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or Equivalent
- ICAM or equivalent investigation qualification or experience.
- Demonstrated ability and experience in providing advice within construction, electricity, manufacturing or similar industries.
- Demonstrated experience and skills in auditing and investigation.
- Proven ability to exercise independent judgement and problem solving with the ability to resolve and address issues as they arise.
- Demonstrated positive and flexible attitude with a willingness to take on a wide range of diverse tasks and adjust to competing priorities.
- Superior interpersonal skills, including liaison and negotiation skills.
- Exemplify personal drive, professionalism, and integrity; effectively communicate ideas, influence others, and think practically.
- Current Australian driver's licence.
