The Role

The Project Controls Manager will be accountable to ensure Project Controls practices and procedures are developed and applied to projects and programs operated within Future Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Systems Program Office. The role is responsible for leading a team of subject matter experts in commercial, finance, risk and schedule management to support Project Teams with accurate integration of information to provide timely project monitoring, reporting and advice.
You will have a considerable level of strategic awareness, stakeholder engagement and will liaise with both internal and external stakeholders including industry and strategic foreign partners in relation to Project Controls matters in support of exciting Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance and Electronic Warfare project acquisitions.

Future Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Systems Program Office (FISRSPO) is the acquisition agency for leading edge ISR capability. 'Future Skies, Future Eyes' is the FISRSPO motto and it speaks to our need to ensure Australia’s readiness for future challenges.
FISRSPO is currently responsible for two major projects set to imminently deliver the next two unique platforms to the Royal Australian Air Force fleet.
The materiel we acquire includes crewed and un-crewed aerial systems and ground control segments, training systems, and associated infrastructure and support systems. FISRSPO is also responsible for the integration of all elements of the Fundamental Inputs to Capability (FIC), to ensure seamless transition to service of the acquired capability, enabling achievement of Initial Operational Capability (IOC), and Final Operational Capability (FOC) on time and within budget.

Our ideal candidate will possess a strong project management background enabling them to oversee and integrate commercial management, financial control, risk management and schedule management activities.
They will have highly developed commercial acumen, communication skills, excellent attention to detail and have the ability to collaborate effectively to achieve high quality outcomes.
To be successful in this role, you will bring the following attributes and skills to the role:
- Excellent leadership skills including the ability to manage and motivate teams of subject matter experts including pools of contracted resources to deliver successful outcomes
- Experience with building team capability through effective planning, delegation of priorities, coaching and feedback.
- Ability to work independently under broad direction while exercising sound decision-making and judgement.
- Expertise in developing project and program briefs, reports and documentation using a range of tools and techniques.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and customer engagement skills with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving and issues resolution skills.
- Analytical skills and the ability to identify, resolve and mitigate risks associated with commercial, financial, risk and scheduling activities.
This position is based in Canberra however remote applications will be considered. A merit pool will be developed to fill any potential similar vacancies across Aerospace Surveillance Response Branch.
