Our Company:
BJEI Australia was established in 2021 to build and operate a significant portfolio of clean energy projects across Australia. Sister company, BJCE Australia was formed in 2017, and currently has an operational 284MW clean energy portfolio.
Together, BJEI Australia and BJCE Australia have an interest in over 2GW of renewable energy generation and storage assets that are planned, under construction or in operation across three states, NSW, Queensland and Victoria.
BJEI Australia aims to build a 3GW portfolio of clean energy assets by 2025 and 6GW by 2030.

About the Role:
Due to the growth of the business, we are looking for a dynamic individual to manage the development of our current and future renewable energy projects, including BESS, Solar and Wind. In this role, you will manage the preconstruction phase of development including creation of project delivery strategy, Development Approvals, Connection Agreements, early works and EPC contract tender and negotiations. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the renewable energy industry in Australia, be able to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to secure permits and agreements and strong project management skills. You will play a pivotal role in driving Project Development and execution.
This role would be office based in Sydney with trips to site about once every few months.
Your duties will include but not limited to:
- Responsible for the overall delivery of BESS, Solar and wind projects from acquisition through to construction phase
- Manage external consultants to facilitate Project Development (Engineering, Planning and legal)
- Provide cost-benefit analysis of technical and design decisions
- Manage projects to budget and agreed timelines using project management tools such as schedules, risks and issues registers etc
- Provide assumptions and inputs to financial models
- Assess the commercial and technical viability of projects
- Run tender processes for key contracts
- Prepare and negotiate Early Works, EPC, O&M and key supplier contracts
- Engage with authorities and key stakeholders to secure permits (Council, state and federal Government, AEMO and respective NSPs)
- Attend community events and discuss key development considerations
- Liaise with landowners and neighbours regarding development matters
- Coordinate internal departments (Community Relations, Finance, Construction and Asset Management)
- Work safely at all times and be proactive about ensuring the Company's operations and that of its subcontractors are performed safely and in compliance with planning requirements.
- Identify opportunities for business improvement and assist with that improvement.
Who we are looking for:
- Minimum 2-5 years relevant working experience.
- Experience in managing planning or technical aspects of infrastructure projects is required. Ideally experience managing projects from clients/owners perspective in renewable energy.
- Experience managing subcontractor delivery.
- Ability to manage teams of specialists such as engineering, legal, planning and environmental consultants.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to build relationships, communicate effectively, manage conflicts, and influence outcomes positively.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Tertiary qualification within relevant industry would be preferred (planning, environmental science, engineering or project management)
- Previous experience in project management, engineering, planning or renewable energy will be beneficial.
- Current driver’s licence.
- Willing to travel to site as and when needed.
