This role is being advertised as both ongoing and non-ongoing, with the employment type to be determined in negotiation with the preferred candidate and the PM&C delegate.
Where a non-ongoing specified term is offered, this would be for an initial period of up to 12 months, with possibility of extension up to a maximum period of two years.
A non-ongoing offer may result in conversion to an ongoing offer of employment, however this must occur within 18 months from the opening date of this advertisement.

Who we are
Australian Government Consulting (AGC) is a new Australian Public Service (APS) initiative to deliver strategic management consultancy projects in-house. Situated within the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, we work in partnership with APS agencies on a wide range of high-profile issues that make a real difference to the wellbeing of Australians.

What you’ll do
As a Project Director at AGC, you will:
  • Form part of the AGC Leadership Team to guide the strategic direction of AGC.
  • Lead the delivery of end-to-end high quality strategic consulting projects that meet client needs, with a focus on providing strategic advice or building high-performing government agencies.
  • Manage the delivery of client engagements, and skilfully engage with key stakeholders to influence outcomes.
  • Lead a high-performing team, offering career coaching, mentoring and support to build a positive work environment.
  • Provide thought leadership across AGC, lending your expertise to other project teams and proposing innovative ideas and solutions to drive AGC forward.
  • Apply strong critical and strategic thinking and an entrepreneurial mind-set to deliver the best outcomes possible.
  • Guide your team in applying structured problem solving techniques to policy and organisational challenges, facilitating workshops and interviews, analysing data and producing meaningful reports.
  • Work with the AGC Business Development and Capability Teams to build AGC’s business and guide the development of core intellectual property, methodologies, and capability development.

Eligibility
  • Under section 22(8) of the
, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the APS unless the Agency Head has agreed otherwise, in writing. At PM&C to be eligible for this position you should be an Australian Citizen at the closing date of application, unless exceptional circumstances apply. * The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (Protected) level security clearance, or hold a current security clearance of an appropriate level.
  • The successful candidate will be assessed through our pre-employment screening checks, such as an Australian Criminal History Check, and will normally be subject to a six-month probation period if new to the APS or has not yet completed their probation period elsewhere in the APS.
