About the role:
This role is responsible in performing design, drafting and assisting project management team to deliver the product/s within the time frame, budget and to the quoted specification and also to ensure that the product/s manufactured by Furphy Engineering are reliable, fit-for-purpose and compliant with relevant codes and standard with key responsibilities which will include:
- Liaise with Project Manager to define/finalise key technical information which forms the basis of designs
- Generate designs using own skill and/or internal and external (outsourced) design resources
- Collate and design documentation to satisfy design reporting project deliverables
- Support the development of Bill of Materials and support release of these to Procurement team including prioritisation of purchasing effort
- Initiate and facilitate key internal design/drafting review processes
- Monitor design and drafting progress and escalate timing and escalate to Project Manager
To be successful in this role you will require:
- Ability to interpret and understand technical specifications including Australian (AS1210, AS1692, AS1170 and AS1657) and International (AS/ASME) standards
- Ability to perform basic design calculations of tank/pressure vessels
- Understanding the basics of structural steel design calculations
- Basic knowledge of using design software including PVElite or similar vessel design software
- Proficiency with software systems including Microsoft Office applications, project management systems, drawings applications, and inventory/stock control systems
- Ability to prioritise tasks to manage competing deadlines
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, and work effectively within a team environment
- Well-developed written and oral communication skills
- Bachelor qualification (or higher) in mechanical engineering (or appropriate equivalent)
Desirable skills / experience:
- Demonstrated experience using drawings applications (AutoCAD, AUTODESK Inventor or equivalent)
- Demonstrated experience in a manufacturing industry or engineering environment
- Demonstrated experience in a Project Engineering environment and experience in performing engineering design calculations
- 3+ years' experience with tank/pressure vessel design
