About the role:
The primary purpose of this position is to design and implement new products, manage project timelines, and optimize product costs within the AutoPacific Engineering Group. You will actively participate in team efforts to seize product opportunities, ensuring that all modifications enhance profitability and meet customer demands.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and develop new products, meet customer, and budget expectations.
- Provide input on product design and cost optimisation during all Gate and Design Review meetings.
- Manage jigs, production processes, and pilot runs to ensure a flawless launch.
- Complete PPAP documentation accurately.
- Ensure products are manufacturable and meet performance and timing targets.
- Achieve on-time delivery at target manufactured cost.
- Manage relationships with senior engineering staff and business functional Find innovative solutions to meet customer needs and drive sales and margin growth.
About you:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical preferred) or equivalent experience.
- Valid Australian Driver’s Licence.
- Comprehensive knowledge of product design and development processes.
- Understanding of potential failure modes for mechanically loaded/safety products.
- Experience in the design of mechanically loaded/safety products.
- Exposure to basic metals fabricating processes and plastic/rubber moulding technologies.
- Practical experience with SolidWorks CAD modelling and drawing creation.
- Proficient in creating and interpreting engineering documentation, including PPAP (Production Part Approval Process).
- Excellent verbal and written communication as well as a high level of attention to detail.
