Wood has a collaborative maintenance contract with Seqwater to deliver leading maintenance services in the water industry. These projects cover South East Queensland across multiple locations, assisting Seqwater to provide water for more than 3 million people.
Wood is currently recruiting for a Project Engineer on a casual basis, working on the South West Pipeline (SWP). The SWP project is a $95M project to construct a bulk water pipeline between Flagstone and Beaudesert, connecting Beaudesert and the Scenic Rim to the SEQ Water Grid.
You will provide engineering/technical assistance and support the successful delivery of project in accordance with Major Projects processes and procedures. Working closely with the Project Manager and Project Team.
Candidates must have full work rights in Australia to be considered for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist and support Project Manager / Superintendent with engineering and technical tasks during procurement, construction and close out phase
- Assist and support engagement and management of design consultants
- Review and assess engineering and technical deliverables to ensure compliance with project requirements
- Monitor and ensure compliance to applicable codes, engineering standards, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications
- Assist and support Project Manager / Superintendent with administration of construction contract
- Review and assess contractor management plans, procedures, lot records, RFIs, ITPs, NCRs and testing to ensure compliance with project requirements
- Inspect and monitor contractor’s work on site to ensure that; documentation, quality and workmanship are compliant with project requirements, and conduct regular audit activities to confirm
- Contribute to regular assessment of environmental, quality, safety risks and implementation of associated controls/mitigations.
- Monitor and report on project cost, program and quality by collecting, analysing, and summarizing indicators and trends
- Assist with preparation of monthly project performance data and reporting, presentations, meeting agendas, meeting minutes and other documentation as requested by the Project Manager
- Ensure the appropriate handover processes are implemented as part of project delivery, including As Constructed documentation, operations and maintenance manuals in accordance with the manufacturers or other agreed standard.
Experience:
- Sound knowledge and experience with water infrastructure, pipeline design and construction
- Sound knowledge and/or experience of the principles and processes involved in managing the successful delivery of projects and work packages
- Sound knowledge of contract management, quality assurance, environmental management and workplace health and safety management related to infrastructure projects
- Sound knowledge of engineering principals, standards and processes
- High level organisation and time management skills, with demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple and competing priorities
- Proven achievement or ability in working with multi-disciplinary teams, consultants and contractors to achieve corporate goals and project objectives
- Sound understanding of construction works and ability to work on a remote and/or construction site
- Highly developed verbal communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise, influence and negotiate with key stakeholders, external and internal clients, team members, regulatory authorities and consultation groups
- Highly developed written communication and computer literacy skills including project management systems (eg Daptiv), resource scheduling (eg MS Project) and MS Suite, to compile and develop professional, technical and quality documentation and management reports on a program of specialist projects of a complex nature.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant engineering discipline (civil, mechanical) and a minimum 5 years professional experience in civil engineering
- RPEQ or eligible to obtain within 6 months of appointment
- Experience with water infrastructure, pipeline design and construction will be highly regarded
- Qualifications in construction / project management will be highly regarded.
