With a view to further develop an engaged, innovative and sustainable business, we are now seeking an experienced Project Engineering Director who will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective execution of engineering infrastructure design and interface across primary and secondary electrical works, civil, structural, and telecommunications projects.

Reporting directly to the Project Director Major Projects you'll be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the delivery of infrastructure designs, specifications, interface and documentation within the confines of project plans. Ensuring adherence to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols will be fundamental. Leading a diverse technical engineering team, including contractors, consultants, sub-contractors, and in-house staff, will be a key part of your responsibilities.
Your role will involve managing costs, timelines, and quality assurance and control of outsourced and contractor design outputs, ensuring compliance with Powerlink standards and relevant design regulations. You'll lead the implementation of consistent and compliant design services and processes, facilitating efficient and cost-effective service delivery.
Collaborating closely with project teams, including construction, commercial, and project operations, will be essential to ensure seamless coordination and integration of activities. You'll act as a technical expert and leader, addressing complex queries and supporting decision-making.
What you'll bring
Your professional qualifications will be complemented by your high level of personal drive, resilience, and commitment to deliver.
Your extensive experience in high-voltage electrical infrastructure design, leadership of multidisciplinary teams, and strong contract management and commercial background will be invaluable. Proficiency in engineering software, strong communication skills, and stakeholder management expertise will set you up for success in this role.
Your proactive approach will involve risk monitoring, issue resolution, and the initiation of corrective actions to ensure on-time and on-budget project delivery. Oversight of construction requirements and subcontractor activities will also be part of your scope.
With demonstrated industry experience (linear infrastructure experience preferred), you will also possess:
- A degree in Electrical or Civil/Structural Engineering, coupled with significant experience in a similar role managing large and complex engineering projects.
- Additional desirable qualifications include RPEQ certification and post-graduate qualifications in management or project management
