Our Opportunity
Work Location: Solomon - Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi people.
Roster: 8D/6R FIFO ex. Perth
The central function to this position is to lead a small team of Hydrogeologists in the planning and execution of various water well drilling projects. The position requires excellent communication, time management and technical skills to ensure robust hydrogeological assessments are completed on time and are effectively communicated to stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for co-ordination with onsite stakeholders.
- Leading a small team of field Hydrogeologists.
- Oversee ongoing collection of hydrogeological data.
- Provide feedback to Specialist Hydrogeologist regarding contractor management and site conditions to enable effective scheduling and budgeting.
- Conduct Field Recon reports.
- Plan project short term implementation.
- Submit LUC applications.
- Assist in POW reviews.
- Review and issue scope of work instructions.
- Supervision of earthworks, drill rig and pump testing.
- Oversee data collection and storage, and provide QA/QC on the data.
- Oversee ordering and control of bore construction materials.
- Encourage a culture of zero harm in alignment with Fortescue Values.
- Perform field interactions.
- Investigate and close out any incidents or actions related to Hydro drilling workspace.
- Carry out required reporting.
Qualifications and Experience
- A degree or an equivalent tertiary qualification in Engineering Geology, Hydrogeology or Geosciences.
- MSc in Hydrogeology - preferred.
- Relevant applied experience in Hydrogeology.
- Experience in mine water management and water bore drilling within an open pit mining environment.
- Knowledge of hydrogeological modelling, monitoring analysis, interpretation and reporting.
- Experience in LUC and POW process.
- Competent use of hydrogeological software packages.
- Strong data management and manipulation skills.
- Effective communication & time management skills.
- Strong team leadership skills.
