Job description

The Role 

Working in the Australian mining and water sector, as a Hydrogeologist in our Perth team, you will investigate, collect, manage, analyse and report on groundwater activities and data. With direct access to the largest and highly respected team of groundwater specialists in Australia, you will forge a stimulating career in this vital industry.  

Your key objectives will include: 

  • drilling supervision and geological logging; 
  • monitoring bore and VWP installations; 
  • conducting field tests (slug tests, packer tests, and pumping tests); 
  • routine collection of water samples; 
  • bore design and technical specifications; 
  • data analysis and interpretation; 
  • provide input and planning of projects including field programs; 
  • reporting ; and 
  • learning AGE’s bespoke numerical modelling techniques 

Field trips are usually 8:6 with time also allocated for desk-based data analysis and reporting. 

This is a full-time role with a good work life balance, time off in lieu and a long-term development pathway, advancing your position as a groundwater consultant in Australia. At AGE you will be encouraged to develop skills in project management, conceptualisation and numerical modelling. 

You 

You will be seeking to join a specialist groundwater team as you build on your foundational knowledge and advance a career in hydrogeology with us. We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic, and practical self-starter.   

A successful applicant will have the following: 

  • a degree in earth science, geoscience, environmental science or geology. Post graduate studies in hydrogeology would be an advantage; 
  • 2+ years of field experience including drilling supervision and groundwater sampling; 
  • willingness to undertake field work throughout various sites in Western Australia as well as interstate locations on occasion; 
  • an appreciation of the importance of accurate data collection; 
  • courage and determination; 
  • strong verbal and written communication and sound report writing skills; and 
  • a valid manual drivers’ licence, preferably with 4WD experience and certification. 

Preferably you would also have experience in: 

  • drilling supervision of production bores; and 
  • VWP installations, pumping tests, and packer testing (on-going training will be provided). 

You will be unafraid to roll your sleeves up, be physically fit, resilient, accountable, relate well to people from all walks of life, and enjoy being out in the field. 

We are open to Hydrogeologists with experience in other states of Australia, who are keen to relocate and experience the grand scale of water management in Western Australia. Relocation support will be provided for applicants residing outside of Western Australia.
