About the role
WorkPac is currently looking for a seasoned Project Lead to join our Sustaining Capital team. This role entails overseeing specific mobile mining technology projects across Rio Tinto’s Pilbara mining operations, with a primary emphasis on Vehicle Interaction Technology Systems. The ideal candidate should possess extensive experience and understanding of the operational mining environment, along with a solid background in various aspects of mining mobile equipment technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of assigned mining technology projects across RTIO Pilbara operations
- Managing and influencing safety on the projects
- Responsible for managing, communicating & escalating project financials, schedule, risks, reporting and project governance during all phases of assigned projects.
- Responsible for engagement with all project stakeholder and ensuring they are kept up to date on the project status.
Skills & Experience
- Proven problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude
- Project management certification
- Strong commitment to safety for oneself and the team
- Previous experience in managing Vehicle Interaction Technology systems (VITS) projects
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities
- 5 years of project management experience in: Mining operations, Operational Technology (OT) project delivery & Engineering (control systems, mechatronics, electrical, mechanical, or mining)
- Proficiency in risk assessments and conducting independent reviews
- Demonstrated self-motivation and the capability to work independently and collaboratively with teams on project tasks
- Exposure to mining production with autonomous trucks, drills, dozers, and light vehicles/systems
- Experience in commissioning or maintaining mobile equipment
- Supervisory experience in a mining environment
- Involvement in deploying new technologies
- Proficiency in developing project business cases and obtaining funding approvals
- Strong IT/OT skills and familiarity with Microsoft suite programs
