About the Advanced Resource Recovery Centre project
Our city has a diverse mix of residents from all over the world and offers an enviable lifestyle, together with the opportunities of a young and dynamic city. Along with this growth comes the by-products, including waste, which requires careful management to ensure our city retains its clean, green, and healthy appeal. If we continue at our current rate of sending waste to landfills, our city will run out of landfill space in the mid-2030s.
The Advanced Resource Recovery Centre (ARRC) is a crucial project for the City, seeking to increase resource recovery and reuse across the city. Following resource recovery and recycling processing, ARRC will convert the residual waste materials into energy, diverting up to 98% of all waste from the receiving landfills.
Businesses in and around the ARRC precinct will work together. They will transform waste from one industry into a valuable resource for another. This process will help establish a circular economy via the reprocessed waste streams. The ARRC project will drive innovation, reduce environmental impact, and increase waste management efficiency. The ARRC project responds to both the Commonwealth and State Governments’ increasing focus on developing and improving the circular economy in Australia, as well as the communities’ desire to see an increase in recycling across our city.
Further details on the ARRC Project can be found on the City’s website: https://www.goldcoast.qld.gov.au/Services/Projects-works/advanced-resource-recovery-centre
