At John Holland, our purpose is simple - we transform lives with everything we do.

We've always known that infrastructure is about people — our customers, our employees, and the communities in which we work every day.

That's our difference. Deep experience and capability with a genuine care about creating better lives for people along the way.

Be part of the team that's up for the challenge of transforming lives for good.

About the Role:
We are seeking expressions of interest from experienced and mobile Project Managers for regional based roles.
As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the successful delivery of rail construction projects from start to finish, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will work closely with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to develop project plans, monitor progress, and mitigate risks. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in project management, excellent leadership skills, and a strong understanding of the rail construction industry. If you are looking for an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of our regional based projects and to live and work in those communities, we would love to hear from you!

Role Description:

  • Manage the overall completion and coordination of scope deliverables for bids and projects.
  • Assign and manage resources to deliver requirements on time, including monitoring and guiding workflows and setting daily and weekly tasks
  • Manage the execution of engineering, procurement and construction activity planning and adopt appropriate construction methods
  • Review progress against plans, contractual arrangements and delivery milestones to ensure they are on schedule and within quality and cost estimates and take effective remedial action as required
  • Financial management: Ensure strong contract, commercial and financial risk management, accurate forecasting of both costs and revenue, take corrective action in line with authority and reporting frameworks and maximise the profit margin for the project
  • Stakeholder management: Ensure that stakeholders are actively engaged and that beneficial relationships between the project and the client, subcontractors, community and other external parties are developed and maintained
  • People management: Monitor staff and labour resourcing to ensure the project has the capability to achieve targets, supervise workforce, including subcontractors, and foster a high-performance team within a positive employee relations environment
  • Ensure that stakeholders are actively engaged. Partner with and coordinate the input of internal subject matter experts and external designers, vendors and sub-contractors
  • Contribute to new business, continuous improvement and broader business activities
To be successful in this key role, you must have:
  • Bachelor of Engineering, Construction Management, Business or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience of project management and delivery of major rail projects
  • Management of multidisciplinary projects and project teams
  • Contemporary practices in design and construction methodology
  • Contractual, legal, commercial, industrial relations and legislative compliance management
  • Advanced financial and commercial management including cost reduction and meeting budgets
  • People and performance management including the performance of subcontractors
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills

We offer:

  • Competitive remuneration with salary continuance, and salary sacrifice options.
  • Great leave benefits including 18 weeks paid parental leave with super and up to an extra 18 weeks of super paid on further periods of unpaid parental leave, multicultural leave exchange and two extra days to prioritise your wellbeing.
  • Career progression underpinned by our exciting pipeline of work means you'll have the opportunity to work on iconic projects that are shaping cities and communities.
  • Learning and development opportunities where you'll have access to emerging talent programs, building your career through clear career pathways, plus technical and leadership training and development opportunities.
