Access theVessel Traffic Services (VTS) are recognised internationally as an aid for safe and efficient movement of vessels. Maritime Safety Queensland is the VTS provider for VTS in Queensland. VTS centres are traffic control centres for shipping in ports and their surrounding waterways. They operate 24 hours a day and use shore-based systems to help identify and monitor vessels, strategically plan vessel movements, and give navigational information and advice.Some of the key responsibilities include:
- Research, analysis, development, maintenance and implementation of processes and procedures on both new and existing Commercial-off-the-Shelf (COTS) Information Technology (IT) systems. These include MaritimeControl and PortControl (QHHIPS).
- Perform Incident, Change and Problem management for Information and Communications Technology (ICT) COTS systems and ensure the effective support of the software is performed in accordance with Quality Management and ITIL principles.
- Collaborate between technology areas, solution architects and project teams on technology design, product design and use as well as technical implementation requirements.
- Plan for and manage upgrades, configuration of application, facilitate/perform testing, release and deployment of new or changed COTS applications.
- Liaise with VTS internal stakeholders regarding the creation and review of Standard Operating Procedures.
- Provide 24/7 on call support for MaritimeControl and PortControl systems.
- Ability to provide high level technical knowledge, expert advice, skills, and support for applications for TMR.
- Ability to provide 24/7 on call support on a rotational basis.
- Strong stakeholder management skills to effectively liaise with a variety of stakeholders within Information Technology Branch (ITB) and internal TMR business units, internal and external users and software vendors.
- Knowledge in service management and service operation (Application Support) to identify and resolve issues with application, use application management software and tools to collect agreed performance statistics.
- Experience in investigating operational needs, problems, opportunities and contribute to the recommendation of improvements in automated and non-automated components of new or changed processes.
- Ability to carry out agreed applications maintenance tasks, follow agreed procedure and assist in defining acceptance tests based on recommendations.
