Brunel are seeking an experienced Project Managerwith a civil or mechanical engineering degree to join our client, a market leader in the mining industry. The Project Manager will be responsible for delivering project outcomes within the key requirements of time, cost, and quality in alignment with project and business objectives. They will oversee all project-related activities and manage internal and external resources to ensure a fully integrated, coordinated, safe, and controlled effort that meets or exceeds client expectations.
Responsibilities
Organize Project:
• Identify optimal involvement of Asset Owner resources throughout project phases.
• Plan resource demands in the project schedule and update the Asset Owner regularly.
• Identify resources for all positions on the Project Team and ensure Asset Owner confirmation.
• Review stakeholder analysis output with Core Leadership Team and confirm nominated representatives.
• Call and chair the Project Kick-off Meeting in collaboration with the Asset Owner.
• Prepare Project Safety Plan and review Communication and Engagement Strategy.
• Review Safety, Operability, Maintainability, and Engineering Deliverables list.
Safety Health and Environment Management:
• Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Legislation and Environmental Legislation.
• Promote safety awareness throughout the project team.
• Identify hazards, assess risks, and ensure incidents and injuries are promptly investigated and corrected.
• Participate in safety reviews and audits.
Communication:
• Set goals, priorities, and objectives and communicate them clearly to team members and stakeholders.
• Organize and chair effective project team meetings.
• Ensure optimal involvement of customer representatives throughout the project.
• Issue regular project reports and comply with management reporting requirements.
Project Management & Best Practice:
• Assist in transferring best practices across program and refinery sites.
• Improve Project Management procedures and processes as required.
• Enhance project efficiencies and reduce capital intensity through appropriate metrics and KPIs.
Solution Analysis:
•Conduct effective solution analysis, ensuring all options are explored and stakeholders sign off on the recommended solution.
Front End Loading (FEL):
Ensure front end loading is carried out to the required standard for all project phases.
Design:
Project Controls:
• Lead the development of project estimates and align them with the execution schedule.
• Monitor cost performance indices and update estimates accordingly.
• Create and maintain deliverables-based project schedules.
• Ensure risk event triggers are incorporated into the schedule.
Threats and Opportunity Management:
• Conduct threats and opportunities assessment at the beginning of every project phase.
• Maintain a threat and opportunity register and update it regularly.
Change Management:
• Assess proposed changes against criteria and recommend acceptance or rejection.
• Raise formal scope change documentation and maintain records of all scope changes.
Procurement:
• Ensure effective procurement functions and implement required safety processes.
Construction:
• Ensure construction activities are carried out safely, timely, and cost-effectively.
• Monitor efficiency of construction activities and ensure compliance with Project Safety Plan.
Commissioning and Handover:
• Ensure commissioning is well-planned and carried out safely and promptly.
• Hand over the facility to the Asset Owner and ensure all maintenance deliverables are provided.
Requirements
•Bachelor's degree in civil or mechanical engineering.•Experience in the alumina or a heavy industry is essential.
•Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills coupled with extensive engineering supervisory experience.
•Proven experience as a Project Manager in the mining industry.
•Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
•Knowledge of safety, health, and environmental regulations.
•Proficiency in project management tools and techniques.
