Lai Switchboards Australia is looking for an experienced Project Manager/Design Engineer to join our Brisbane based team reporting to the State Manager.
THE ROLE
As Project Manager / Design Engineer, you will be the primary contact for the client, provide switchboard designs, document control, liaise with the drafting & production team and drive your projects to an effective and successful result. You will also develop and manage project time frames and have correspondence with the relevant stakeholders including the client, and internal staff.
The successful candidate ideally has extensive experience working in a Project Management / Switchboard Design role on medium to large sized industrial/mining/commercial projects.
Responsibilities Include:
- Responsible for the methods and scope of all technical aspects within the project to satisfy the customer requirements.
- Direct or advise the Drafting team on all aspects of design verification and change control.
- Maintain a safe working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations not only for yourself but also others.
- Liaise with customers, Develop and maintain customer relationships
- Manage production schedules for construction of project
- Liaise with client regarding design approval and any changes during construction
- Inspect completed projects prior to despatch
- Track scope and or cost changes
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Excellent communication skills, customer service skills, coupled with effective trouble shooting skills and must be self-motivated and resilient.
- A strong technical or trade background ideally in switch room & switchboard construction, and electrical project management
- Strong understanding and application of change management competencies
- Effective leadership, coordination, motivational, negotiation and dispute resolution skills
- Ability to manage the competing demands of multi, simultaneous projects.
- Establishing, managing, and reporting on project schedule, delivery and stake holder management
- Electrical Trade or Electrical Engineering Qualifications would be advantageous
- Switchboard experience and knowledge including AS/NZS 61439
- Knowledge of local electrical standards and AS3000 wiring rules
- Ability to interpret Single Line Diagrams and Schematics.
- Experience in Low and medium voltage would be advantageous.
