Project Manager - Education

  • Employment Type: Full-time (35 hour week)
  • Duration: Parental leave cover, fixed term contract until 20 Jun 2025
  • Remuneration: $118,883 - $133,948 + 17% Super and leave loading
  • Location: Kensington, NSW (Hybrid Flexible Working)
  • Full Australian working rights required for the duration of the contract

About The Centre:

The National Centre of Excellence in Intellectual Disability Health (the Centre) is a new major initiative supported by the Australian Government, Department of Health and Aged Care, commencing in 2023. The Centre is led by UNSW Sydney (Medicine and Health) together with a consortium comprising The New South Wales Council for Intellectual Disability, Down Syndrome Australia, Queenslanders with Disability Network, First Peoples Disability Network (Australia), Centre for Disability Studies, Mater Intellectual Disability and Autism Service and Mater Misericordiae, University of Melbourne, and Telethon Kids Institute. A further 20 health and disability sector partners and 36 collaborating organisations are also involved. The Centre’s purpose is to improve the health of people with intellectual disability. The National Centre of Excellence in Intellectual Disability Health will be based at UNSW Medicine and Health, UNSW Sydney.

Establishing the National Centre of Excellence in Intellectual Disability Health is a vital step in improving the health of people with intellectual disability. The Centre will bring together experts, resources, and research on intellectual disability healthcare.

Why Your Role Matters:

As a Project Manager (Education), you will play a lead role within the Centre, in the planning, development and implementation of projects and their associated activities. You will work in collaborative project teams which include people with intellectual disability.

The role entails developing project planning documentation, identifying and building appropriate project teams and initiating and overseeing the project, including managing all stakeholder engagement and quality assurance. This role will also lead the scoping, co-design, and procurement of an accessible knowledge exchange hub for people with intellectual disability, healthcare and disability professionals, and other key stakeholders across Australia.

The role reports to the relevant Team Leader within the Centre, and may have 2+ direct reports.

Who You Are:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years experience as an educational designer.
  • Experience in creating digital resources, including Knowledge Translation and e-learning resources.
  • Experience with and understanding of clinical concepts and practices in the health and mental health of people with disability, with demonstrated ability to evaluate, analyse and synthesise information from diverse sources.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing face-to-face as well as online education and training programs, including designing e-learning courses, running webinars and media requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in using and administering Learning Management Systems.
  • High level of understanding of learning design principles and practices that contribute to resource development and production, as well as current and future trends in learning and teaching.
  • Proven project management experience, with an in-depth understanding of the project life cycle and strategic development of project plans, objectives and documentation, using project management software.
  • High level of experience working with a range of computer systems and applications, including educational and design technologies, such as Articulate 360 and Adobe applications, and ability to code in various languages, including JavaScript.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to liaise and negotiate with a range of people to achieve agreed outcomes and reconcile different views, as well as collaborate effectively.
  • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
  • A valid working with children check or ability to obtain one.
