The Project Manager Engineering position is responsible for managing and supporting the delivery of approved projects whilst ensuring that regulatory and organisational-wide standards and processes are maintained. The focus of this position is to provide Project Management and Subject Matter Expertise (SME) support to all aviation portfolios with a strong focus on engineering.
The position reports to the Head of Aviation Projects within the Project Services Team, with matrix reporting to the Head of Engineering. The Project Manager Engineering is responsible for defining and delivering capability enhancements, support configuration management, develop and mobilising new capabilities; achieved by executing a framework that integrates project management, configuration management and systems engineering principles and practices.
The primary duties of the Project Manager Engineering include the following:
- Draft detailed business cases to justify engineering support initiatives, including maintenance outsourcing, insourcing, stores provisioning, and repair
- Manage and support the mobilisation of complex aviation services delivery projects, including aircraft acquisition and modification; facilities selection, modification, and certification; and support services definition and acceptance
- Draft project and technical documents required to address contracted customer requirements, including project management, engineering management, and through life support plans for Toll Engineering Projects
- Manage suppliers (internal and external) to deliver agreed products and services, to specified timeframes and costs
- Provision of engineering SME to all portfolios across the business including chairing workshops to determine Engineering Services requirements and strategy for service delivery
- Draft detailed project delivery and engineering services delivery submissions for inclusion within tender responses and quotes
- `Tertiary qualifications in Engineering specialising in Aeronautical or Aerospace, or
- Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME) with Post-graduate qualifications in Project Management, Systems Engineering, or Equivalent Experience
- Business Improvement Certifications, e.g. Lean Six Sigma would be highly desirable
- Experience in aeronautical product acquisition and modification programs
- Project management experience in the delivery of complex technical projects
- Technical writing qualifications or experience
- Working knowledge of regulations governing aeronautical product design and maintenance, including CASR and DASR
- Strong facilitation skills and ability to draw information from personnel at all levels of the organisation
- Willingness to coach and develop other team members, including appropriate training as required, to positively influence the achievement and quality of business outcomes
