Details: The Project Officer will be responsible for the management and delivery of assigned urban renewal projects within the Authority's designated precinct. These projects may include landscape and urban design, city activation initiatives and place management plans.
As a Project Manager, you will have a direct impact in making Canberra a better place to live. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy and trust as you deliver projects that make meaningful contributions to the urban quality and social vitality of our precinct.
The position sits within the Design and Place Strategy Team within the City Renewal Authority organisational structure. We are currently working on the creation of the Acton Waterfront, the revitalisation of Dickson Shops, significant upgrades to Garema Place, and a diverse range of other renewal initiatives.
Duties of the Position include:
- Managing primarily design related activities / projects, including reviewing and providing comments on development application (DA) plans for developments referred to the City Renewal Authority and assist in the coordination of place activation events;
- Project management including:
- Preparing procurement documentation including procurement plans, risk management plans, consultant and contractor project briefs, reviewing tenders received, preparing tender evaluation reports;
- contract administration, quality assurance, contractor performance, and providing project governance support including maintaining appropriate project records;
- Delivering high quality written work including briefings, Cabinet and board papers and a range of communications and other project material;
- Ability to manage workload, and being flexible to adapt to peaks and troughs;
- Undertaking community engagement, managing stakeholders and working closely across Government;
- Under the direction of the Executive Branch Manager, Design and Place Strategy providing support to the broader City Renewal Team including the Senior Executive, Chief Executive Officer, Board and Government as required; and
- Other duties and functions as reasonably directed.
Eligibility/ Other Requirements: Qualification/Work Experience
1.Professional Qualifications in a design related field such as planning, landscape architecture, or architecture preferred;
2.Project Management experience; and
3.Minimum of 4 years' work experience in a directly relevant field, preferably in urban renewal and public realm related projects.
Note: This is a temporary position available for a period of six months. The successful applicant may be selected based on application only. This position is available to ACT Government officers and employees only.
