The Position
Reporting to the Senior Program Manager – Great Barrier Reef Aquarium the successful candidate will apply their strong project management and technical skill set to a key capital works projects. The position provides high level support to the Director- Great Barrier Reef Aquarium and Senior Program Manager- Great Barrier Reef Aquarium Transformation to scope and manage medium to large scale capital works projects.
The position is responsible for project planning, cost control, contract administration, project reporting and stakeholder management on technical projects relating to building/construction works. The role may also act as the interface between client teams and contractors to ensure capital works are implemented in accordance with agreed scope, timeframes and budget.
Duties
1. In accordance with government legislation, policies and procedures, coordinate and manage medium scale Commonwealth Government capital works projects including:
a) Scoping, design, site preparation and contract delivery phases.
b) Contract administration and risk management.
c) Monitoring and prioritising time and focus across multiple and concurrent projects.
2. Engage collaboratively with key stakeholders to achieve quality outputs and outcomes within a Commonwealth policy framework.
3. Establish project plans including scheduling dependencies and milestones to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of projects, including:
(a) Undertake objective and systematic analysis of project components to identify issues that may compromise successful project implementation.
(b) Provide executive briefs on project progress, adjusting and negotiating changes as required to deliver required project outcomes.
4. Work in collaboration with the Senior Program Manager and other members of the Transformation program to ensure the delivery of key objectives and other tasks as required.
5. Plan and manage allocated financial resources.
6. Manage workflows, evaluate business outcomes and set priorities.
As an APS employee you may be reassigned to a different set of duties at the same classification level at the discretion of the agency head (CEO), taking account of operational requirements in the agency.
